Who We Are

Our purpose at BetterLives is to develop relationally healthy individuals and teams to lead at the next level.

OUR PURPOSE

To help people live a better life.

We acknowledge daily personal interactions affect our productivity, stress, and joy in life. It is important that we give time and space to acknowledge and explore our emotions and thoughts. This exploration allows us to determine how this impacts you and influences your interactions with others. Ultimately, this process gives us the ability to navigate our obstacles and take action.

OUR VALUES

What we value drives our coaching.

At Better Lives Coaching, our approach is built on the belief that people, process, and performance are at the heart of meaningful transformation. We prioritize people by focusing on personal growth and development, ensuring our clients feel supported every step of the way. Our process is designed to be clear, intentional, and adaptable, guiding you through a journey that fits your unique goals. And we believe in delivering real results—because when you thrive, we succeed as a coaching team and business.

People

People are the reason why we exist. To help our clients and employees be all they can be.

Process

Process is how we go about everything that we do. The process we take clients on and the process in which our business works is paramount.

Performance

Performance matters. We want to help our clients find what they are looking for and we want to perform as a business, so that we can exist beyond ourselves.

Our Team

We believe that leadership development starts with the individual and then their change will enable them to lead more effectively.

Nancy Houston

MA | Executive Coach

People. People have always fascinated Nancy. Since she was a little girl, she has wondered what inspires, motivates, and makes a person want to become the best version of themselves. She is an optimist and flat out believes there is goodness in every human, it just needs to be called forth and developed. This belief led her to find much joy and purpose as a licensed counselor, pastor, author, and coach. Nancy is a continual learner; she has a master’s degree in counseling, served as an adjunct professor at Dallas Baptist University and the Townsend Institute, and is currently a fellow with Townsend Institute. She is trained in variety of tools including Immunity to Change Mapping, Positive Intelligence, Attachment Theory and the Enneagram. Nancy founded and leads Next Level Leadership, an inspiring adult developmental approach to human growth. Together, with her son Micah, they provide team and individual coaching for the members of Next Level Leadership.

Nancy has joyfully been married to her high school sweetheart for almost fifty years. Together they raised four sons and take great delight in the men, husbands, and fathers they have become. Now, their eight grandchildren make them laugh, delight, and keep them on their toes.

Micah Houston

MA | Executive Coach & Consultant

Micah has three twinkles in his eye: his spunky wife of 17 years, his empathetic 8-year-old, and his wild 3-year-old. He is a natural adventurer and is always curious about what lies around the corner, whether it be exploring the coastline of Oregon for another surf session, chasing his daughters around the house into their newest hiding spots, or pursuing breakthroughs with his clients. Having spent nearly two decades as a leader in education and in the wrestling community, Micah brings the ability to connect and have compassion for people in all circumstances. As an avid learner, Micah loves to develop himself and others through physical, mental, and emotional practices. Having personally struggled with what he viewed as failure and disappoint, he began observing patterns in his life that prevented him from believing he could pursue what was in his heart. Desiring to change these patterns, Micah pursued development with a coach and has seen personal and professional growth. Having received his Master of Arts in Executive Coaching and Consultation and his certification in emotional intelligence, Micah brings education, compassion, and experience to his practice.

Darcy Houston

M.ED | Training & Development Facilitator

Darcy believes in people, the power of education, and that cookies make life better. With almost 20 years of educational experience, she brings a diverse skill set and a spirited voice to training. One of her biggest strengths is creating a safe and engaging environment for learning so participants can experience their potential for growth. As somebody who loves to try new things, Darcy understands the vulnerability that is required to stretch oneself in a group setting and finds joy in building a positive learning culture. With a Master’s in Instructional Design from Western Governors University, a certification in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Cornell University, and a certification in Emotional Intelligence, Darcy continues to live out the joy and power in personal development.

Darcy loves doing life with her husband of 18 years and their two beautiful daughters. She unashamedly loves pickleball, romance novels, and sipping on black tea.

Shaylyn Crowston

Business Manager

Shaylyn was raised in a small town in Oregon and has always been driven by people’s innate ability to learn and grow. She took this passion for seeing others function at their highest capacity and fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming an elementary educator. Just as she found great delight in facilitating moments of growth for her young students, she now experiences the joy of being a part of the work that happens at Houston Leadership Group. Shaylyn spends her days enjoying life with her husband, soaking in sweet play time with their baby boy and staying active through fitness and outdoor adventures.
